Summary
In the aftermath of Pharloom's functional collapse, a few remnants of the old kingdom linger. Some more hostile than others.
Hornet learns the hard way that the one responsible for her arrival in Pharloom was not the only one with a distinct interest in her, and that, though she has seen the breadth and depths of this kingdom's cruelty, having witnessed the remnants of that cruelty inflicted on others does not make her more resistant to its attention turning directly upon her.
Fortunately, she isn't alone in Pharloom. Unfortunately, her allies can do very little for her when they have no idea where she is, and being found by one does not necessarily mean being found by all- nor does one ally's presence make her escape complete.

Without its aid, many of them would not have survived the journey here,” Sherma continued, unperturbed by her pondering. “I and many others only wish to show thanks for ceaselessly protecting us with its golden blades, as you do with your needle. To return the blessing that this holy place has given us.”
Hornet stopped the rotation of her spools. “…You wish me to extend hospitality on your behalf- to invite it to this settlement?”

Summary
The whole world felt it occur.
The destruction of a god.
The very centre of the world had risen as one joined mind to consume Radiance. The essence of dreams, the one who enslaved the minds within Hallownest in a fit of rage for being forgotten.
With the dream realm no longer having a God of Dreams, that duty fell upon the Nightmare King's shoulders. He couldn't wait for the realm to create a new God on its own after a few centuries. So he created a new Dream God using the small part of dream essence that rested deep within his soul's core. The sooner the duty was placed upon shoulders more fitted to lead it, the better.
This small piece of his core became the Dream Child.
