Summary
Many things are different and many are the same as Harry begins his fifth year at Hogwarts.
Here, living with Dursleys that aren't just neglectful but outright abusive made Harry unable to withstand more than a few weeks of Trelawney's "predictions" back in his third year. Instead, he took Ancient Runes, and uncovered that he had a prodigious knack for runic magic, which opened the door to the darkest of rituals and the magic of mind and soul. A year later, Harry uncovered something horrible within himself - a parasite.
So, when Voldemort sends him dreams of corridors and doors, Harry sends him pieces of hell in return.

Summary
It was 2023 in boring Hawkins, Indiana, and Steve Harrington didn't know what he was doing with his life. Home from college with a barely passing GPA, recently dumped, and drunkenly careening down a dark country road to the tune of his own misery, Steve was aware that he might be depressed. Therapy would've been the sane solution. But before he could turn around and make that choice, a glowing red hole cracked open in the middle of the road, and he was sent flying through time and space.
It was also 1985 in boring Hawkins, Indiana, and Eddie Munson had a five step plan on how to fix his life. First, graduate high school. Second, provide a kickass D&D campaign for the nosy little freshman that joined Hellfire. And finally, write more music and go on tour with his band. Okay, three step plan. Absolutely nothing about his plan-in-progress included stumbling across the hottest man he'd ever seen stranded on the side of the road. Or the glowing red portal to hell parked next to him.

Summary
Raised by Magnus at a young age, rescued from those who abused him, Simon struggles as the truth is revealed about his real identity to the Shadowhunters.
OR
Magnus finds an abandoned young warlock Simon and raises him as his own. When Clary's mother comes to Magnus to have Clary's memories taken Simon is then tasked with staying by her side to protect her. Clary changes as she grows becoming self-centred and when the time comes and her true heritage is revealed she'll stop at nothing to get what she wants. Clary will get her memories and mother back no matter the cost, even if that means hurting Simon in the process.
