it is 1 am and I am ready to go to sleep, but not before writing this book mark because oh. my. god. Best work in the fandom? Yes and yes. Fastest 200k I've ever read.
First off, the plot twist and betrayal that smilk made the bind the whole time shook me to the core. I thought the slow burn was already over and that we had like idk 15 ish chapters of fluff!!!! Or I thought that they'd break the bond and define their relationship properly. EVERYTHING READ WAS... actually a lie. A LIE.
betrayal, but oh so fitting. If I had a nickel for everytime a fanfic has made me believe that the two main characters had fallen in love but then reveals that the relationship wasnt what it seemed to be, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but I'd like it to stop happening because my heart hurt. I thought he slow burn had burned!!! I thought it was ash already!!! That line where pv's fond gaze wasn't there in the healers bay when looking at smc actually broke my heart. Lawd. Even we were deceived. I honestly thought since the main couple wad happy and all, that the jambind was just gonna be an easy, passing plot. Dear Jesus. I was so naive. It was a slow burn, but a slow burn for Smc to develop feelings for Pv. Oh, how the turn tables, here we thought Pv fell first. Nah!
Secondly, the arc with dark enchantress cookie, OH MY GOD. the reveal at the end that they'd been swapped the whole time? I honestly thought Pv was acting weird only near the end when he scowled and stuff and I got so confused because that's not in character for Pv?, and I somewhat realized. Oh my god they swapped places. Which made sense as to why Smc ran towards pv ,(Pv ran towards Smc), because... Smc wouldn't break character like that! And the theater thoughts in Pv's head made so much sense. I thought he was just nervous about acting.
Making a favorite quotes tomorrow because I am currently very sleepy. Quotes:
“Shadow Milk Cookie,” Pure Vanilla says gently, “will you let me fall in love with you again?” AHHHHHHH
"Fine.” Shadow Milk squeezes the other’s hips, drawing him closer. “Even when you don’t. Especially when you don’t. I’ll spoil you rotten, far better than those wretched Witches ever could.”
Pure Vanilla’s eyes flutter as he brushes their foreheads together. “How tempting,” he murmurs softly, “Then, tell me – how shall I worship you, Shadow Milk Cookie?” this had me gigging I'm not even kidding.
"“Impossible,” Shadow Milk dismisses weakly. “Shadow Milk Cookie cannot be saved.”
“He can be loved.”" YES HE CANNNNN
also the times when smc says "skill issue" and pookie bear had me giggling!!! he's such an old man ,, but pv is too... Does this count as old man yaoi?

this... I am very....
ookay soo. I loved this fic. But I also hated it., lots of feelings.
I loved the way the author wrote Hannibal's love letters, not only the actual murders themselves but the detail and the interpretations behind them. I also loved how the relationship between the two developed.
I loved the fluff n smut so much. At least when I thought it was fluff.
sigh.
That ending did not go the way I expected it to go. That reaction was the most realistic though, I was wondering throughout the fic when and how Hannibal would reveal his identity as the Chesapeake Ripper, especially considering the bond the two had built up. I had mostly expected that Will would have his moments then come to and all would be well. It's so funny because at that very last chapter I hadn't at all expected it'd end up as a cliffhanger, so I, fully immersed and anticipating at this point, clicked a button that I thought was 'next chapter' only to be taken back to chapter 12 and be completely devastated at the realization that there was no chapter after that. I read the authors note, and told myself, "Ah! Disappointing but I suppose I can just say 'oh, he accepted and they moved to Paris."
My pathetic brain saw the "Next work in this series" button, though.
Getting my hopes up again, I click it! Yes, this must be the continuation I was hoping for, with fluff and a happy ending. I should have realized, as a person in the Hannibal fandom, that I was being so very stupid.
The tags for the next fic aren't what I expected, but I didn't look at it too closely because I was still very deeply invested in the story and I just needed to see what happens next. It's 11 pm on a school night, though, and so I see the Jack pov tag and go: "Eh, I can just skip to the end. All I need is closure."
It was ironic, really. Cause I read the last few paragraphs and go 'what?!' and then frantically scroll down to the comments to see what the author was saying and telling myself this couldn't possibly be the end. Reading through a few comments though, oh boy was I wrong.
It's kinda ironic, how the author made me feel the exact same betrayal Will felt in this fic. The realization that all the sweetness and sugar the author had me believe in regarding Will and Hannibal's relationship was all a facade. There were no hints. The author had me completely invested and believing in the genuineness of their relationship only to stab me in the back. I don't know if that was all planned but if it was, author, you are a wonderful, monster of a human being (said with all the love in the world)
I don't know what I was expecting. This is Hannibal. It's on point with the show's themes. I think I go into dark and gore filled media's fandoms because I just really like hurt/comfort and want the characters in said horrific media find happiness and fluff, in whatever gruesome or horrific way the canon forces it to be like. But at the same time I completely get it, Hannibal's actions shouldn't be truly romanticized, but also. This fiction let me do whatever the fuck I want, yk?
This is too much excitement for a Monday night. I don't know if any of my word vomit makes sense, I'm tired out of my mind right now. Author, you are amazing. All the kudos to you you are actually amazing and I loved this fic so much but also I didn't. I love you but also I don't.
I hate this fandom.

This was a good fic, though I was kinda disappointed by the ending. Not the author's fault,, they did specify they wrote this solely for world building. I just came into the fic looking for, a. Zuko rehabilitation b. A close relationship with the new guardian figure c. Fluff
It did have all these three things, but not to the amount I'd be satisfied with for a zuko adoption fic. Still, good fic, if not leaving me feeling kinda empty,,

The writing style was gorgeous,, surprisingly I love how it kept swapping perspectives in the chapters.. The running jokes through this thing were hilarious and I was laughing irl at some of them
The beads in Zuko's hair were absolute perfection in hy god (he also never got his water uncle's bead lol)I sobbed and laughed and screamed and vomited and rolled on the floor crying OH MY GOD!!!!!!

Scar is, indeed, sitting very daintily on a plush chair that Grian hadn’t seen him drag in. “Don’t let me bother you!” he says, giving them a wide wave. “Wouldn’t want to interrupt your learning!”
“I didn’t even want to be here,” Mumbo bemoans. “I’m not good at gardening, Grian, we both know it! I could be- I could be building a flying machine right now.”
He says that wistfully, and Grian takes one hand off of the dirt he’s pressing against the ground - ceiling - whatever, and sets it on Mumbo’s very white shirt. “Mumbo,” he says, with a gentle and caring tone. His friend looks up at him.
Mumbo’s dark eyes are practically voids in the dank man-made cavern, and dirt flecks have rubbed their ways onto his face like a smattering of stars.
“I’m only going to say this once,” Grian continues, and the shoulder underneath his hand relaxes. “Get good.”
Or: Grian has some grass issues. Mumbo and Scar try to help.

The pacing was great, they all were so in character and were consistent, THE WRITING WAS GORGEOUS WOAHHHH And despite the angst this was the sweetest, fluffiest thing ever. LIK OH MY GOD IM IN SHOCK THIS IS THE BEST FANFIC I HAVE READ IN A YEAR GOOD GOD!!! Some quotes because i cant get these words out of my head help

It did not pay to show weakness while in the company of other gods. Passion, yes- but not weakness. That’s why Father had called a council meeting, after all. To show us Apollo’s trials, everything my twin would have to suffer through for having dared to oppose him. It was his way of reinforcing his iron grip on us, of showing he still had power, after the debacles and humiliation from the Second Titan War and the Second Giants War - particularly the latter, as Zeus did more to hinder the efforts to combat Gaea than to help. If we’d all done what he’d commanded, we’d be destroyed by now.
Zeus would never admit to that. Not out loud. But he knows we’re all thinking it.
So naturally, my little brother is his scapegoat.
