    After The Professor was exhumed and the truth laid bare, Kazuma Asogi and Barok Van Zieks are left to deal with the consequences. Making the choice to remain in London and face his proverbial demons, events cause Kazuma and Barok’s lives to become increasingly, inexorably tied. Traumas are faced and secrets are revealed, all against the backdrop of one of the most chilling cases to ever haunt the East End of London, which they and detective-in-training Gina Lestrade are fighting to solve.

    Trigger Warning for historical authenticity: This is a piece that does its best to be authentic to the period; this means you can expect Victorian attitudes to sexuality, race, drugs, and so on. If you aren’t in a place to read some outdated views from certain characters about homosexuality, non-white British races, women, and the working class, then this might not be the story for you at this time. I’ve done my utmost to handle things respectfully, but I also don’t wish to unnecessarily upset people who were just looking for a fun time without the problematic time period accuracy.

    When Lord van Zieks invites Ryuunosuke to discuss literature with him, he sees it as an opportunity to make friends with his once-fearsome courtroom rival. It all goes surprisingly well, until a controversial book selection on his part threatens to upset the equilibrium they’ve established.

    Or, Ryuunosuke ropes Van Zieks into discussing The Picture of Dorian Gray with him, and it has a greater impact on their relationship than he could have imagined.
