Summary
Junior year was supposed to be simple. Same school district. Same friends. Same chaos. Same promises that nothing would ever change.
But growing up has a funny way of testing old playground vows.
As T.J. Detweiler and Ashley Spinelli navigate high school alongside the rest of the gang, buried memories, unspoken feelings, and one infamous fourth grade “experiment” start to resurface in ways neither of them expected. Between secret glances, stolen moments, and the pressure of keeping everything exactly the way it used to be, the line between past and present begins to blur.
With an Ashley party on the horizon and old jokes threatening to become real revelations, the question isn’t just what’s going to change—but how much longer the truth can stay hidden.

Summary
"Without recess, kickball, or jungle gyms, groups begin to crack. Add in a healthy serving of adolescence, and suddenly… Total mutiny. The Split is a curse, like death, and it's just as inescapable."
***
A rift between T.J. and Spinelli rocks the entire group.

Summary
Robert gave Courtney a weak glare as he set the plate of sliced watermelon in front of her. He swiped a piece before plopping down next to her on the couch. He managed to take a single bite just as his wife scrambled to get on top of him for a cuddle. She opened her mouth and pointed at it, clearly demanding that he feed her. Robert obliged, bringing the cool slice to her lips. Normally Robert would have been happy to oblige his wife's whims, but this one whim was pure terror. "I'm not naming any daughter of mine Roberta."
