“I’m going to play in the talent show,” Tommy said one night over a quiet dinner. Wilbur chuckled slowly.
“You can’t even sing.” Oh, if only he knew. “What the hell are you going to play, the triangle?” Phil chastised him quietly while Techno snorted.
“I think the piano, actually. I’ve been practicing.” Tommy said in the sweet, innocent voice he put on every time he talked to his family.
“That’s good, Tommy. You are head boy, yes?” Tommy nodded. “Good. You’ll be living up to the family name if you win the show. Good luck.” Phil finished. Tommy nodded.
“You’re gonna need a lot of luck if you wanna live up to Techno’s violin performance. And no amount of luck can beat me and my band’s performance, so.” Techno raised an eyebrow and Wilbur hit him playfully on the arm. “I’m just simply better than you, Tommy. Everyone is.”
The bad thing was Tommy couldn’t tell if it was a joke or not.
“You’re gonna be eating your words, Soot.” Tommy taunted as he put away his dishes. The one in question just snorted and walked off. If only he knew.
