Lucy waits for the mention of her father to twist something awful inside her. Still nothing. So after a few moments, she just says, “Okey dokey, Tex. Whatever you say.”
The cadence of the ghoul’s steps stutters for a second. Barely noticeable, but Lucy catches on. “Tex?” he inquires, shooting her a narrowed glance from the side.
“I have to call you something,” she explains with a shrug. Though even she knows that’s not the real reason. Maybe she wants to goad him into telling her his real name. Maybe she just wants to get under his skin a little, in whatever way she can.
