Prince Jackson Overland had only just been thrown into royal life when posed with the choice of marrying a barbaric warrior or letting his sister Mary be the bride. And there was no way he was going to let that happen. Now if he could just keep certain things secret, he'd be happy.
Prince Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third wasn't entirely certain that an arranged marriage would even work, least of all to a stuffed shirt of Burgess. But maybe it would give him the chance to show that dragons and magic wasn't something to be feared.

In all honesty, it really shouldn’t have come as a shock. Anyone who spoke to Nathan for more than five minutes could’ve told you to expect this, but Simon had never really put much thought into it before. He could tell from the slack jaws and the raised brows on the rest of the gang’s faces (barring maybe Kelly, who had the advantage of literally seeing the inside of his head) that they hadn’t expected it from him either. The kid with the mess of curly hair was too laddish for this, too much of a bully to ever get away with it, right? All Simon could do was stare, newly dumbfounded and rendered speechless as he watched Nathan-bloody-Young swaying on the dancefloor with another boy’s tongue down his throat. As if in a trance, all four of them exchanged the most confused look, Curtis pointing at the couple as if to ask 'is that really happening?' They were only wrought out of their reverie when Nathan himself bounded over to them, beer in hand and clearly pleased with himself.
“Got a free drink outa that, kah-ching!”

Summary
Growing up is already hard enough. Throw in a pair of religious parents, an AWOL older sister, a hopeless crush, superheroes, a failed romance with a secret supervillain, and insane amounts of self-hatred then you pretty much get the story of Kaz's life. In short, it kinda sucks. Thankfully, he gains some people in his life that make it not suck. Shapeshifters also suck.
