And then Bruce’s arms fold him in closer. “Shh,” he murmurs. “It’s okay.”
Dick cries harder, he’s desperate, dragging himself onto Bruce to wrap winding limbs around him. He doesn’t want to let go. Everything hurts, inside and out, and he wants…he wants…
“Dad,” Dick says. “Dad, help.”

Xiao both feels and hears the rumble of his stomach which he had been feeding a diet of pure dread for the past several days. Due to the rampancy of his karmic debt in recent days, he has taken it upon himself to stave off his mortal craving for food. It was both a willing and unwilling sacrifice with Smiley Yanxiao being on temporary leave due to a cold and the substitute chef managing to burn his almond tofu. Verr Goldet's eyes seemed sympathetic but he was adamant he would be fine. After all, weapons don't require sustenance to slaughter.
