Summary
When I was six, I drew a picture no one understood, and I spent the rest of my life pretending that didn’t matter.
Years have passed, and I have learned many things: how to fly, how to endure, how to be alone—but not how to be understood. I try to convince myself I have moved on and that the boy I once knew has long since returned to his planet. And yet, I cannot help but look for him in every golden-haired child, every wild fox, every rose pressed between the pages of an old book.
And every evening, I turn to the west and watch the sun slip beneath the horizon, as if dusk itself might draw his shadow back across the sky.
