Summary
"It wasn't about jumping. It was about the ability to jump. The choice.[...] Something to remind him there was a way out."
Seong Gi-hun, a depressed but compassionate mechanic, meets Hwang In-ho on top of the bridge. Neither of them are there to jump, but they are both there. Their experiences with grief and humanity are different, but being seen and understood is too miraculous and too rare for either of them to pass up.
(Sad, traumatized old men fall in love.)

Summary
In-ho comes back from his eight years undercover injured, jaded, and devoid of humanity. A kind-eyed do-gooder in a back alley might change all of that.
Featuring falling in love, PTSD, Hwang brother angst and hurt/comfort, and an evolution from misanthrope to slightly-less of a misanthrope.

Summary
Hwang In-ho and Seong Gi-hun met when they were college-aged. They fell in love, tragedy struck them, they fell apart.
Ten years later, Gi-hun is hired on as a technician at OneEarth, a corporate machine. He is less-than-thrilled to find In-ho working there. Despite himself, despite both of them, really, they grow back together."You are searching so intently for some semblance of good in me. What will happen when you decide you can't find it?"
"Well, you know me," Gi-hun said, smiling a little bitterly. "I've never been smart enough to know when to stop."
In-ho tipped his head back and forth contemplatively. "There is something to be said for the resilience of your hope. Granted, I am probably not the one to say it."
LOTS of hurt/comfort, angst but a proportionate amount of fluff.

Summary
"Here was Gi-hun, with his lifetime of tragedy and difficulty, picking up strangers in the rain and campaigning for the inherent value of mankind. And if that existed, if it was possible to sustain that even in spite of immense hardship, maybe it wasn't circumstance that had turned In-ho into something bitter. If Gi-hun was possible, if his worldview was somehow sustainable, that meant that whatever In-ho became was not a result of a bad situation; it was inherent. He was always empty, or capable of emptiness, and wasn't that the same thing?"
FAKE DATING AU. No Squid Games, just other trauma and the power of grief competing with the audacity of hope.

Summary
After the events of season 2, In-ho sends Gi-hun away with a key and a card with the address to his apartment. He assumes that, in a few months, Gi-hun will come and confront him or shoot him. Instead, the moment that In-ho returns from the games, Gi-hun is waiting for him.
Despite Gi-hun's assurance that there is nothing but hatred between them, they are both still eager to find a kindred spirit. The reconciliation of these two warring emotions leads them to some confusing places.

Summary
"He thought about Gi-hun, who was probably dead by now. After all, the world ate goodness. Consumed it like an animal eats raw meat, feeds on it and tears it up and destroys it. Who would know that better than In-ho? His wife, Gi-hun, these people were the type that the world swallowed whole.
And empty, rotten people like Hwang In-ho? Well, he'd probably live forever."
Hwang In-ho encounters Seong Gi-hun more than once, and each time, Gi-hun wedges himself deeper inside his mind. In-ho has been devoid of personhood for years, since his wife's death, but hope is a powerful thing. So, too, is love.
