Summary
Xie Lian, as usual, faces a series of unfortunate events that lead to his expulsion from a village. After attempting to help the villagers by repairing a roof and preparing food, he inadvertently causes chaos, resulting in a roof collapse, ruined meals, and a fire. As he flees, he tumbles down a slope and injures himself.
In search of a way to clean his wounds, Xie Lian stumbles upon a stream, where he encounters ghostly boats filled with various spirits. Believing he resembles them in his battered state, he is invited aboard one of the boats to journey to Ghost City. The city is vibrant and full of energy, filled with ghosts and supernatural beings, prompting Xie Lian to feel a flicker of hope that he may finally escape his long streak of bad luck. This marks a potential turning point for him after 500 years of misfortune.

Summary
Xie Lian manages to save a scrap of Wu Ming’s dispersed soul after he is torn apart by the resentful spirits at Lang-er Bay. He becomes determined to help the ghost regain his physical form. After White No-Face's defeat at the hands of the Heavenly Emperor, Xie Lian makes a deal with Jun Wu to adjust his shackle to allow him to use spiritual energy only for the sake of others, and never himself.
Banished and homeless, Xie Lian protects the tiny scrap of soul and dedicates everything he has to pouring energy into helping repair it. The opening of Mount Tonglu seems to be the perfect place to harvest spiritual energy, so Xie Lian decides to enter the barrier and battle thousands of ghosts if it will help restore Wu Ming’s soul.

“Why is gege sitting like that?” San Lang asked softly.
Xie Lian blinked his eyes open. He'd been falling asleep, his body still so tired from everything it had been through in the depths of the cave.
“Hm?” How was he sitting? Xie Lian thought about it for a moment, and then he realised. Oh.
He was sitting with his back against the maple tree, his head tilted slightly backwards and to the side to expose his neck, the insides of his wrists turned upwards, resting on his thighs.
Xie Lian had trained himself to sit like that in the presence of vampires, so there was less chance of them pulling on and twisting his numb arms or hurting his neck.

After an accident, banished fairy Xie Lian becomes the unwilling guest of a sect of vampires. When another powerful vampire destroys the sect and takes Xie Lian home to help him recover, Xie Lian is faced with the challenge of convincing his saviour that he really really wouldn't mind if he were to drink some of his blood.
