He was humble, yet unfailingly proud. The sort of person who would honestly say he thought he was the least of them all, and then turn around and make something that should not exist merely because he wanted to prove he could. A child, thrown into a war, who came out the other side alone and far from unscathed.

Summary
Afterwards the tale was told only by those that had loved her. It was translated, for her kinsman Elrond Half-elven, by Bilbo Baggins who brought his own Hobbitish misinterpretations of Noldorin custom to the text. So when the stories said that she was not wholly unwilling, while they were not wrong, they were rather missing the point.
