Summary
Christmas is coming up, and Chad has found the perfect gift for Robert. The problem is, as far as the other man is concerned, he still hates him. Chad keeps the gift anonymous, convinced Robert has feelings for Mandy. As the company Christmas Party approaches, however, Robert is giving no indication that he's taking anyone. He's also been acting extra attentive to Chad, who isn't appreciating the attention while simultaneously eating it up. When the truth slips out, what will the two men do about it?
Surely not the mature thing.
Written as a Christmas special. This was meant to be a One Shot like the The Beach Episode, but it just kept going so I must respect the process. -

The Z-Team takes Robert out to eat for the two year anniversary of his arrival to SDN. Robert has found a certain sense of peace among their chaos. Before he met them, his life was predictable- as much as a superhero's life could be. Wake up, wreck his body trying to fix the mech that he's not sure he ever wanted, wreck his body trying to fight villains, wreck his body not taking care of himself properly, go to sleep. Rinse and repeat. Ever since he put on that headset, he's been healing, slowly but surely.
It's hard to convey how much they all mean to him, but he wants to try.

Rarely does Robert ever get a moment of time to think. Rarely does he let himself. Because he knows the moment the noise quiets and the lights are dim that his mind will race. It will remember. And yet, when the memories resurface, they don’t hurt as bad as they used to.

When Flambae doesn’t show up for work after Robert’s confession of being Mecha Man, Robert starts to feel bad. He doesn’t want to be the reason for Flambae to get kicked out of the Phoenix Program because of a no call no show, so he decides to go and talk it out with other. Only the evening doesn’t go quite as he expected. Not at all.
