Summary
noun: perihelion
- the point at which an orbiting body is closest to the sun.
A ship designed to cherish and protect. A SecUnit built to throw its life away. In retrospect, it was inevitable: ART and its SecUnit experimented with a new form of intimacy, and took the experiment too far.
Now, Murderbot is adrift without its body in the ocean of ART's mind. ART, frantic, tears through its own mind, searching. A small piece of it stays behind to keep its SecUnit's brain from falling apart in its hands, but it may already be too late.
You would never crush me, ART. You would never hurt me. Still, I am drowning in you.

While on an undercover mission deep in the Corporation Rim, Tarik
buysstealsrescuesacquires a ComfortUnit. This is fine—it can hang out while he finishes the mission, he’ll be not-an-asshole to it, and then it can go on its liberated way and never have to see him again. This will definitely not get weird and messy.Bookmarked by Eunicorne

Summary
I found the room in the facility easily enough. It was one of many. Identical little cells with a bed pushed against one wall and hygiene equipment against the other.
There was no one else being held here. I made sure. Leaving some poor fuck here to die of starvation or run out of power was not something I intended to do. It could hold maybe twenty-five in total, but it honestly looked like it was on its way to being decommissioned.
That was probably why they'd stashed Gurathin here. They didn't think that Preservation Alliance would even know where to look.
Luckily, Preservation Alliance had me.
Written in response to the mention in Network Effect of drugged augmented humans, and subsequent discussions in New Tideland.

Summary
I open my mouth in a soundless moan, one hand sliding down between my legs to press hard against the smooth expanse of skin there – even knowing it won’t do anything, there’s something reflexive and intrinsic in my systems that demands it. My body rocks, riding out the onslaught of sensation, getting closer, closer, closer, and–
It stops.
Right as I’m about to tip over the edge, the sensory input withdraws and I’m left writhing, muscles clenching, unable (by the rules of this stupid game) to finish myself. I’m breathing hard, overstimulated, desperate, and more aroused than I think I’ve ever been in my life.
And I’m going to absolutely fucking murder Gurathin.

The picturesque village of Buell, Maine is one of the last in the United States to continue the tradition of the “harvest” or “prosperity” lottery. Its residents insist the lottery makes them stronger, even as condemnation from outsiders grows.

I was allowed to interact with home equipment, meaning if I cared to speak to anyone, there were plenty of options:
- Tseyvar Frakes’ personal SecUnit. (I didn’t care to talk to this one, but it did exchange security information with me, which I guess was okay because it improved my performance reliability.)
- HomeHubSystem. (This was an AI Tseyvar put in charge of HubSystem. Do not do this.)
- HomeHubSystem’s maintenance bots. (Recently found out these were autonomous. I hadn’t even checked.)
I did not have permission to speak to:
- Tseyvar Frakes’ FamUnit.

Summary
Murderbot doesn't give a shit about the backgrounds of its various humans. Family structure, ethic structure, that sort of thing. It has more important things to worry about.
Except it turns out that Dr. Gurathin's backstory is way, way weirder than expected. And it's about to become VERY relevant.

Vimes waved that stupid idea off. "Oh, right, you'll just go move into your empty old house — sorry, empty old childhood home — in Ankh and live by yourself till you die, of course. You'll have the rats whipped into shape in no time. … Sir."
Vetinari looked blank in an extremely suspicious way.

I wanted ART to come back online so we could watch Sanctuary Moon episode 412 together and it could argue with me about whether spacetime-fuckery alternate universes counted as canon. I wanted it to come back online so I could tell it Holism put an aquarium in Three's chest and wasn't that totally deranged. I wanted it to come back online so it could bully me into figuring out what my fucking problem was.

Most people are aware of the fact that they have a soul prior to meeting their soulmate.
We aren’t most people.
(Part 1: A partial retelling of Artifical Condition from ART’s POV, wherein everyone’s favourite asshole research transport discovers 1. That it has a soul, and 2. That it has a soulmate. It handles this news completely rationally.
Part 2: A partial retelling of Network Effect, Murderbot POV, where it also has some uncomfortable realizations.)Bookmarked by Eunicorne

It's nice to know that you will be missed. I wonder if Murderbot 2.0 knew that it would be missed. I wonder if Units 1 and 2 knew that they would be missed, but I know the answer to that.

People have commented on how MB as a SecUnit might relate to ART as analogous to a HubSystem and what that means for their relationship, but how does ART, as a bot pilot designed to pilot drones and shuttles and split itself into multiple pieces, relate to having a SecUnit on board?Bookmarked by Eunicorne

Summary
I had been incredibly skeptical when Ratthi had sent me ‘Midnight Eclipse.’ I knew what fanfiction was, I had seen it in the more niche entertainment feeds before. Never specifically for Sanctuary Moon, but I'd assumed it existed. That didn't mean I had any actual interest in it, though. When I had first looked at them, I hadn't liked them. The quality varied too much and a lot of them weren't finished, or were really short, or really out of character. And I hated that. I really really hated that.
This one was different.

“You’re right,” it said after a long pause, staring at its feet. “I am responsible for the mission’s outcome. I want to fix it. Please let me fix it.”
I hesitated.
“SecUnit and I can handle it,” said Three. “We have handled it before and we can handle it again.”
Charon looked up. It said, “Please, Hacker.”
I sighed. We all knew that I was going to fold.Series
