After an initial misunderstanding involving a dormouse, the Mad Hatter had brewed him a personal teapot, and provided him with a sugar bowl and a small jug of cream. The short man, who had excused himself to serve other tables, emerged from the kitchen and jaunted confidently through the room, trays balancing on his arms and one atop his enormous hat.
