Summary
Canon Divergent after 10x03: Soul Survivor. After being cured, Dean struggles with the emotional pain and the guilt he hadn't been able to feel while he was a demon. He's scared the Mark will take control of him again and deliberately lets himself get injured during cases because he feels like the pain helps him fight the Mark's influence. That doesn't work out indefinitely though, and it's only when Dean finally breaks down under the weight of it all that Sam and Cas notice something is seriously wrong.

Summary
A night in Port Townsend, after Hell, Charles and Edwin talk.
“You really didn’t remember what you look like?” Charles asked.
“I fear I’ve already forgotten again," Edwin said.
The admission didn’t sound sad, just factual. So Edwin was being very Edwin about this. It was only natural, then, that Charles became very Charles about it all.
“You have a very straight nose,” Charles said. “And, um, a sort of soft jawline—strong chin, though. Thick brows, and high cheekbones. Your hair is brown, and your eyes are green. You get a little crinkle between your eyebrows whenever you’re doing practically anything.” Charles demonstrated by glowering playfully in Edwin’s direction. “Thinking, reading, telling me off.”

Over the years, their music collection grew, until a shelf for their records joined the shelves for their books. Edwin was proud to say that the acquisition of the record player had made their office more lively, ghosts though they were. He certainly enjoyed their dancing lessons.
If Edwin noted Charles’ quiet singing during this time, it was only to classify Charles as having enough musical talent to not clash horribly with the original singers’ voices.
Some decades later, Edwin discovered the magnitude of his error.Or: Charles attempts to woo Edwin with the power of Queen.

Summary
Edwin is terrified. He feels as though he is a wounded deer caught in a bear trap, simply waiting for the hunter to discover his misfortune. The room is dark enough that he cannot make out a single landmark, the deprivation of all sounds playing tricks on his panicked mind. He swears that he hears distant giggles, the sound of grotesque dolls laughing at his renewed torment, but no creature ever makes an appearance. A hysterical laugh threatens to spill past his own lips, accompanied by a sudden rush of tears. He closes his eyes and wills them away, steeling himself for whatever is to come.
The question is not whether Charles will come; the question is when. Until that question is answered, all Edwin can do is endure.

“If there is one thing I have learned from sixteen years of life, seventy-three years of Hell, and several months of being a ghost, it is that I do not like touch, I do not miss it, and if the nexus of eternal torture and pain cannot shake that from me, then I do not see how you possibly could.”
Charles continued to grin, and, for the first time since he’d walked out of Hell, Edwin felt his surety falter; he’d seen Charles grin many times like that before knocking a ghost or ghoul out with his cricket bat. He recognized it as a warning that Charles' unstoppable force would make the immovable object before him mobile once more.
The problem is simple, really: Edwin hates touch, until he doesn't. Now, he craves it.
