"Arise now, ye Tarnished. Ye dead, who yet live. The call of long-lost grace speaks to us all!"
It was a simple, yet grand purpose to those given a second chance by the Light of Grace. To become Elden Lord and claim the Elden Ring. Many would be emboldened by the flame of that ambition, and many more would perish at the hands of those who wished nothing more than to see the Tarnished dead. Such was the way things were in the Lands Between, shattered and fractured to the point of chaos between its residents.
Only a select few would be guided by Grace, however only one would truly be gifted with something incredible. A gift that would render the physical well-being of a soul... unworried in the face of death. Yet the mind of that same individual would only be further damaged from it.
So what did it mean to have true immortality? A blessing? Or merely a foul curse in disguise? One Tarnished warrior would grow bitter to it nonetheless, all the while cherishing the one gift he truly had.

Yoru had seen and heard many things during her time with Asa Mitaka, she thought tolerating Denji as Chainsaw Man and her host's social ineptitude was absurd enough already.

Kobeni Higashiyama was terrified of Ms. Makima. This statement should elicit a feeling much like the experience of a blue sky, or green grass. The warmth of a big, bright Sun, perhaps. That is to say, all of the constants in the world exactly as one would expect to find them. As Kobeni was terrified of most anyone, and most anyone with sense was terrified of Makima, this was, to reiterate, perfectly natural.
