Summary
Following his recovery from the Khan incident (and Spock and McCoy's decision to conceal the truth about what exactly brought him back), Jim finds himself facing down a Starfleet review board. When he's placed on administrative leave and has his command ability called into question, the obvious next step is to drink copiously and accidentally ask Spock out to dinner. But then he's abducted by mysterious forces, and suddenly relationship negotiations are the least of everyone's worries as Spock, Uhura, and McCoy try to pin down Section 31 and cope with the possibility that their worst fears for Jim may have come to pass.

Spock pauses, watching the man carefully over the rim of his mug. Jim raises his eyebrows in question and leans casually into the doorframe. Spock takes a sip of tea, resting the mug gently between his hands.
"I do not believe I understand your meaning, Jim."Jim and Spock start slowly dating halfway through the five-year mission. Spock doesn’t quite figure it out until year 4.

“Kirk, I have a medical report from your CMO saying that you two are…” She squints. “‘Exhibiting an inability to tolerate a loss of physical contact without severe and shared cephalalgia?’ So what, he’s saying that your heads hurt if you stop holding hands?”
Jim lifts his and Spock’s arms into view of the camera. “Yes ma’am.”
“Really?” The Admiral says in a tone of unabashed curiosity.
“I can assure you, ma’am, we are not doing this for recreational purposes.” Spock says dryly.
...
Or the one in which Jim gets hit with Sex Pollen TM, but Spock doesn't like his consent dubious so politely declines.
Luckily, that crisis is averted. Unluckily, Jim and Spock realize they have been left unable to go without touching for more than a few minutes without excruciating pain. Summary
