On every such occasion, Wen Qing has been unfairly skeptical. “That’s not how I remember it.”

Summary
Wei Wuxian had been absolutely certain Jin Guangyao was Mo Xuanyu's last enemy, the one who had to die in order to satisfy the demands of the Sacrificial Curse. But after the events at the Guanyin temple one cut still remains. Wei Wuxian will have to figure out who still needs to suffer in order for him to keep his second chance at life.
OR, I wanted to tie up some plot points that were driving me crazy: did Wen Qing really die (REALLY, tho)? why was Mo Xuanyu able to summon WWX when no one else could? why didn’t Inquiry ever work? will Jiang Cheng keep that secret forever? won’t we ever get to meet Baoshan Sanren? Plus, more ducklings!

The last thing Wei Ying thinks of before he’s shot is the memory of Lan Zhan’s wide, pleading eyes, a whispered “come back to Gusu with me, Wei Ying. Please,” and then the heartbreak when Wei Ying shook his head, turned away, walked away and never looked back, too lost to grief and rage to do anything else.
The first thing Wei Ying sees as he wakes up after three years, is a hand resting on his – Lan Zhan’s hand. Lan Zhan. Beautiful, handsome, striking Lan Zhan, looking as if carved from jade, worthy of his nickname as the Second Jade of Lan, holding his hand.
Three years on after a tragedy, is it possible to heal? To live on? To feel alive again?

“No, I heard that. But–” Wei Ying glances at the extremely pretty man, who’s just staring at him, completely still. His empty hands hover in the air. “I don’t need anyone to take care of me. I just wanna go home."
“You are going home,” Yanli reaches over and tucks his hair behind his ear, giving him a tiny smile. “Don’t worry. Just a few more scans, and then Lan Zhan can take you back."
“Who’s Lan Zhan?” he asks.
The pretty man by his side inhales so sharply Wei Ying feels the air get sucked out of the room.

Wei Ying gets in a traffic accident and loses six years of his memories, including meeting and marrying the love of his life. This is the story of how he falls back in love with Lan Zhan: quickly, and inevitably.
