"Let me be your nanny for the first couple months! I'll have to go home for a couple weeks to make my parents happy, but you said your parents'll be helping out, so I can schedule it when it works for them to be there. I know you'll have to hire someone new when the school year starts, but I think you'll be a lot happier havin' someone you know around at first instead of some stranger. "Chris has A+ blood" His voice is soft, almost a whisper, like he's admitting to something far deeper than a medical fact.
Buck's face brightens, his usual, easy grin lighting up as he exclaims, "Hey, just like me!"
Eddie's heart stops. Just like Buck. The words echo through his mind, twisting and turning, his head swimming as he tries to ground himself. A+ isn't exactly rare,he tells himself, grasping for logic. Around 34% of people in the USA have it, after all. It could mean nothing.
"Yeah" he mutters, trying to sound amused, but his heart's racing, and he knows Buck can tell something's still off.
"Wait..." Buck's voice is barely above a whisper, as if speaking too loudly might shatter whatever Eddie has left. "Is that... is that what you're overthinking?" Buck asks, his voice shaky and tentative. "Is there something wrong with that?"

In 2009, while Jack Zimmermann was curled into a ball on his bed in the most expensive rehab center in Montreal, the Seattle Schooners hired talent scout (and former Olympian) Georgia Martin as their new Assistant General Manager. The Falconers had made her an offer, but they clearly viewed her as a token "diversity hire" where the Schooners truly valued the perspective a woman of color could bring to their organization.
In 2015, she signed Jack Zimmermann, and the day after he graduated, Jack moved the 3,000 miles from Samwell to Seattle.
Now it's 2020, and Jack is happy. He loves his team. He only has one regret, one reason why part of him will always wish he'd signed somewhere on the east coast...
