As far as anyone knew, Ballister's salmon-haired sidekick was taken out in the merciless monster attack along with countless others. The only survivors to know of Nimona's connection to the creature were Ballister and Ambrosius, but only Ballister was aware of one crucial detail-
Nimona wasn't dead.
He wanted to tell Ambrosius, really, he did, but how could he? Ambrosius was ripped apart, terrified, traumatized, how could he frighten him with such information? Two years after the attack, Ballister accepts that in the interest of maintaining an honest, trustworthy relationship, the truth must be shared, no matter how much pain and misunderstanding he knows it will cause. But, while the cuts have closed, Ambrosius is far from healed from his fight with Nimona when he, unsuspecting, is confronted with this information by the only man he thought he could trust.
