“Tsushima Shuuji,” Chuuya reads out loud. “A bright, optimistic young man with a pep in his step and a zest for life. Hang on–is this referring to you?”
“Unfortunately,” Dazai laments, sighing dramatically. “You just got away with ‘science nerd’ and ‘soccer player,’ but I’m supposed to be an artist! I hate art! It’s useless!”
“Shut the fuck up. That’s not the problem here. You? A ‘zest for life?’ Looking forward to each new morning? Hah! Rimbaud would sooner come back to life.”
Dazai turns to Chuuya with the barest facsimile of a smile painted over his lips.
“I,” he says sweetly, “am going to gut you open like a fish.”
Dazai and Chuuya are seasoned mafiosos at the ripe old age of almost-seventeen. They’ve fought gang wars, interrogated prisoners, and done all manner of unspeakable things. Now, they face their greatest challenge yet: going (undercover) to a real high school. With regular teens (who may or may not be desperately trying to get them to kiss).

Summary
Dazai and Chuuya don't realize how intimate their friendship looks to outsiders until the day said outsiders force them to see it.
Snip :
“Hirotsu told me I could find you in the vermin’s office, Chuuya, there are a few things I want you to do as part of your reading training, nothing too important of course.” She was smiling softly as she skimmed over the documents one last time before putting it on Dazai’s desk, not once looking up.
“You can bring them back to me tonight or tomorrow morning, no later than tha-”
That’s when she looked up, the youngest executive of the port mafia was sitting curled up on her proteges lap, head against his neck glaring fiercely at her as if she had personally insulted him, well maybe she did by calling him a vermin and all that, but she hadn’t expected to see Dazai in his office, he never spent any time there.“I’ll deliver them to you tonight while I hand in the idiot’s work to the boss, Kouyou.” He looked so serious and determined that she would have been proud, if it wasn’t for the fact that Chuuya seemed to be petting Dazai’s hair

Summary
“Okay so if we’re both still single when we’re twenty two,” Dazai’s smile grew even wider. “Let’s marry each other.”
By the time Chuuya’s twenty two, he’d probably be in a relationship with someone else, and the possibilities of them even remembering each other were slim to none.
And so, Chuuya gave his answer.
“Fine, let’s do that.”
In short, fifteen year olds Dazai Osamu and Nakahara Chuuya made a stupid promise one day in their school library out of boredom, which leads to the next seven years of their life filled with fighting, burnt notebooks and late night conversations.
