Summary
Nancy Wheeler gets assigned to cover the story of the up-and-coming indie band Friends Without Benefits.
The band is notoriously private, the stories surrounding them sourceless and soaked with speculation. Amidst rumors regarding their pasts, their relationships, and the previous tour that got cut short for reasons unknown, the band remains steadfast in their commitment to protect themselves, each other, and the people they love.
The music seems to be all the band cares about, but Nancy makes it her mission to force her way behind the facade of the elusive band members -
Vocalist Robin Buckley, lead guitarist Eddie Munson, bassist Steve Harrington, keyboardist Vickie Davies, and drummer Dustin Henderson.
What Nancy uncovers is a story about friendship, love, loss, and the family we get to choose for ourselves - and in the process, she figures out that there might be more to life than telling other people's stories.

Summary
Nancy is self-aware enough to admit that maybe she’s at her best when the world is ending.
It’s the aftermath which is proving more difficult.
Or: Nancy Wheeler loses a boyfriend, gains a best friend, goes to a metal show, smokes a joint, kisses someone she shouldn't, and maybe, just maybe, falls in love. Not necessarily in that order.
OR: Nancy Wheeler has a prolonged sexuality crisis and Robin, Eddie, and Steve are there too.
