Summary
After Starscream's disastrous attempt to join the Autobots, he flees, only to be found by Optimus with the intent of bringing him back to base. Things go horribly wrong, though, and the two are imprisoned in a cave-in. Optimus asks Starscream to try again at joining the Autobots and to renounce his Decepticon ways, but Optimus learns from Starscream that the line between Autobots and Decepticons is blurrier than he thought, and that the Autobots are more similar to Decepticons than he'd like. Starscream and Optimus soon learn that there is much more to both of them than either one thought.
Starscream makes a bold choice and betrays Megatron in a way he never has before. He joins the Autobots.
And Megatron is not pleased.

Summary
Starscream left Megatron's cruelty behind and betrayed the warlord in a way he never had before: he joined Optimus. But Megatron still haunts him on each of his missions, following him, hunting him, and wanting Starscream back.
A scouting mission with Prime and the Autobots in the Arctic goes wrong when Megatron makes his debut. Only Starscream can fire the shot to send the warlord back. But a thousand years of terror catches up to Starscream and he realizes that he will have to do much more than just change sides in order to change his own ways.

She hadn’t learned to relax around the man, around Palpatine’s durasteel fist of a dragon, the one-man army who’d plucked her out of the Senate and put her on the throne, but she had stopped being so terribly aware of his every move. He had become a menacing piece of furniture, at some point in the many hours he inexplicably chose to spend standing and watching a wall in her office while she worked.
The hissing presence of him had retreated into the background, like the sounds of a working ship in flight.

Summary
Zuko had never excelled at anything. Azula was a prodigy. Uncle always knew what to say. And Father... Father was strong, iron-like. But Zuko had only ever been good at surviving. Putting one foot in front of the other in a grim show of stubborn determination, gritting his teeth and bearing it. Survival was all he had ever been taught. He knew how to do it. So when he was kidnapped by the Southern Water Tribe, he expected to fight as he always had. He didn’t expect to be taught instead how to live.
In a warring land, the Water Tribe forgave the enemy in an act of defiance. For this, he was torn from them, and this time, his wounds won't heal so easily.
Forced back into nothing but survival, the last person Zuko expected to see was Hakoda's son. Hakoda was a promise of safety. The relentless blue of Sokka’s eyes was a promise of happiness. Zuko could have both if he just reached out his hands, but he found them clutching into fists. After all, he’d been burned one too many times.
But hey, at least between Hakoda and Sokka, Zuko could appreciate the family resemblance of pure, asinine stubbornness.

(Where Zuko saves a little Earth Kingdom girl from drowning, the villagers think he's a Spirit, build him a shrine, and long story short, a fake story about the Blue Spirit who dances with dragons suddenly becomes very real.)
