Discomfort trickled through him at the thought of using yet another thing Shadow had given him, but this was nothing if not necessary.

What if Garmadon was never brought back from the Cursed Realm? What if Harumi never escaped from prison? What would happen if the ninjas were forced to bring her on a mission?
It's been half a year since the whole Oni Mask incident. The Sons of Garmadon have been locked up for months, and Lloyd has no intention of seeing any of them ever again. However, when the Oni Masks start glowing ominously, the ninjas are forced to ask a certain member for help, which turns into a full-blown trek across the country with her.

“Nonono, Iya, it’s okay!” Jay cried, moving to help her.

Kai had never been particularly fond of little kids. He didn’t dislike them, but you can’t talk to a kid the way you do to an adult. You can’t play the same games. They won’t laugh at the same things. They were sweet and cute and all that, but after a while, Kai just wanted to talk with someone his own age.
So how he’d ended up spending hours on end, day after day, with a two-year-old kid, was absolutely beyond him.
