    "Aizawa! Still as punctual as ever. Come in, I've just made some tea."
    He shoved his hand back in his pocket and dragged himself into Nezu's office. It looked identical to how it was when he was a student: black and white minimalist furniture, a little too clean, all the clutter hidden away in the drawers and filing cabinets lining the walls.

    "Of course, I would hate to waste your time." He took a seat at what was once his usual spot, the edge of the couch closest to the door.

    "I must say, I'm surprised you came at all. You must have had to wake up early to make it here on time." Nezu handed him a cup of warm black tea.

    "It's 1 PM." he said with a stare.

    He’d almost forgotten about it when he woke up the next morning.
    It returned to him when he saw that little blue app with several notifications on his home screen.
    Some people he’d randomly followed had followed him back for some reason. And as all good algorithms do, his feed started to push more content about Present Mic toward him.

    He didn’t have to do anything for the next few hours, so he began to scroll, learning more and more about fan culture.

    He discovered the great, wonderful world of discourse, where people argue about the ethics of using real people as muses for fiction. And that’s when he saw a specific word mentioned repeatedly.
    Erasermic.
    It felt like a taunt, knowing he was braver in over a thousand different universes.

    He thought about it while he was at work.
    He thought about it as he walked home.
    He thought about it as he lay on his bed, staring at the ceiling to the sweet sound of nothing.

    That’s when he made the stupid decision to look, curiosity beating out restraint.

    There was always a low, thumping hum from the darkness. Tinged with gentle static. A natural white noise that sent shivers down her spine and filled her chest with a sort of painful ache, like it was burying deep into her bones and tearing them apart. The static raised in volume, slowly but surely. Shutting her eyes, she watched the shapes and patterns move just behind her eyelids, seemingly matching in tandem with the ever-approaching static.

    Then — a sharp whistle of a tea kettle.

    “I’LL GET IT,” a glitching voice boomed all around her.

    Or, Dess Holiday in: Befriending the other man doomed by the narrative, making the best out of being trapped in the eternal torment void and trying to do everything you can to still have hope in coming back home.
