Summary
Years after mutations ended the world as he knew it, Grimmjow now lives a simple, if lonely, life in the forest. It's mostly quiet, with only the occasional mutant zombie to keep things exciting. It's how he prefers it, really, but Grimmjow isn't alone in the woods, and eventually his past comes knocking. Art in Chapter 2!
Grimmjow doesn’t sleep that night; he stays awake until the dawn’s rays creep through the leaves.
He’s cautious after that. Dozing lightly during the night, prone to waking up at the slightest possibility of movement outside. His supply runs are few and far between, and largely uneventful, but the paranoia eats at him when he does, filled with an ever-pervading sense of being watched.
It fades eventually, as days pass with nothing of note happening. It takes two weeks for Grimmjow to realize that he hasn’t had a single mutated near his house since the incident, something that usually happens once or twice a week.
Something or someone is killing the infected near him.

Without a warning Kurosaki handed Kazui to Grimmjow, who held the kid in front of him like a ball. A disgusting, slimy ball, as if Nel had drooled all over it. When the toddler laid his head back to look at him, the Arrancar could see confusion mirroring his own.
He barely noticed Kurosaki walking back to the living room – straight towards the coatrack – leaving the two of them in the kitchen. It took Grimmjow an awful lot of long seconds and a tiny hand covered in sticky grape juice right into his face until he understood what was really going on. Then he beelined after the Shinigami.
“Kurosaki, what the-!”
“You want to chicken out, Grimmjow?”
“Of course not, but-”
“Great. I’ll be back in a few hours.”--------------------
Grimmjow was head over heels for Kurosaki and would do anything to get closer to him. He just didn't expected that 'anything' could also mean babysitting his crushes toddler-son. Hell, the Arrancar was pretty damn sure he was the last person one should ask to take care of a child, and yet he happened to do just that. Was this nothing but a catastrophe bound to happen? Grimmjow couldn't think of any other outcome. After all kids make everything complicated. Right?
