Summary
So I can't write a good story to save my life but I've been having an idea. So what if instead of Arthur dying Merlin absorbs him. Kinda like how Once Upon a Time did with Gold (Rumple) and Neil they merged to save Neal. So Arthur and Merlin are one and they can never see each other since, you know, they share a body. If anyone wants to write a story with this premise go right ahead!

He sees Gwen, and then suddenly, Arthur is in his chambers, collapsed against the door and biting down on his wrist to hold back his own sobs. Merlin only stumbled into Camelot a few years ago, but he fit himself into Arthur's life so seamlessly, so perfectly, that the thought of him being gone is unreal. Impossible.

A different take of the dorocha. Instead of them being faceless screams that attack you, they are actually figures of the dead. Merlin doesn't quite realize how much death affected him until him and the knights go to close the veil.

Summary
Uther discovers the ultimate weapon against magic and, mad from the loss of Morgana, turns against his own beliefs in order to restore order. Merlin begins to act strangely and Arthur has the heart to finally ask what is wrong but something is keeping the boy from confessing his own woe. As things unravel, Arthur must rethink all that he thought he knew about his father, magic, and the world he lives in.
