"M-mom? Mom, wake up! Mom!" Four-year-old Midoriya Izuku sobbed over his mother's body. All he remembers is being in pain. More pain than he'd ever felt before. His mom hugged him, and he blacked out. He had no idea what had happened. That is, until he felt something brush his back. His shirt was torn to shreds, sticky with blood. To his amazement and horror, there were four tentacle-like things protruding from in between his shoulder blades. He's seen other kids get their quirks, but nothing like this. Wings, longer fingers, and explosions were the most memorable to him. But this- this was terrifying. The ends seemed to be needle-sharp, and they got darker as you got closer to his body. The tips were a bright red, fading to burgundy, and then an almost-black color where his skin and the tentacles met. Now numb, the small boy walked over to his room, where the body of his dead mother lay. Not knowing what to do, but wanting to get Inko's body out of sight, he took his comforter off his bed, laying it over her as best he could. He didn't know where to go, but he had an overwhelming urge to run. He couldn't stay here, not anymore.

Japan is hit with a major cold spell, so Izuku decides it would be best to go spend time with Dad in America. After all, there seems safe from the brutal cold, and it is! But other things lurk inside the forest of America... strange things. From raging monsters to peaceful beast Izuku meets all sorts of characters. Making friends in this world is rather easy too! After all beast and ghost don't care about 'quirks' or 'superpowers'... Though Izuku wished some would believe in clothes too. He wonders if he can force a sweater onto Hound Dog?
Ah, but Nezu had to inform him about something unexpected... Somewhere in his blood is the genes of a powerful but extinct race. Now if he could just get Nezu to tell him! That beast loves to make riddles and avoid the topic with teachings of the spiritual world.
