Summary
Cyril makes an impulsive decision to follow his mentor and attempt to prevent other Almyrans from suffering his own fate. In doing so, he becomes embroiled in the fraught politics of the Leicester Alliance against his will with the looming danger of Almyra's response dangling over his head.
Even when all is settled, Cyril finds himself on a path in which no matter what route he takes, betrayal is inevitable for someone he cares about and there may very well be no happy ending for himself in any scenario.
