It's Christmastime! Britt, Casey, and Kato head to Arizona for the holidays to celebrate with the Clarkson family, where young John, little Mary, and their now-adopted, fiery-haired sister Bridgett strive to put the traumatic events of "Stung Through The Heart" behind them. The wild frontier of their new home is certainly helping. Enamored with the Reid family's famous relation, the Lone Ranger, John is living out his western dreams against the purportedly haunted mesas of the Dragoon Mountains, where the spirit of Cochise himself is said to walk.
Except...John is positive that not all is right in those mountains... And it's not the ghost stories, either. There's danger, real and present.

Summary
Molly Clarkson, a young divorcee with two children, is murdered in her apartment during a stormy summer stretch in Century City. Two little bodies escape the gunshots into the night, winding up on the City's Orphanage steps. John, her son, is only eleven but already far older and jaded than his years, on his way to becoming that 'angry young man.' Little Mary, her daughter, only five, refuses to speak, and John fights anyone who thinks she has to. John knows the truth about that night; he knows his mother's murderer, but he knows even better that if he tells, he and his sister are dead. Enter the City Orphanage's Charity Gala.
