Summary
The storm over Mike’s head brews. The gray clouds darken to black as if something’s burning—but there’s no smoke. The ground trembles beneath him, quaking with anger. Overhead, a tornado forms, churning in the sky.
More than one—a dozen, maybe more—tornadoes form all at once. Mike lets out a cry, not sure if it’s rain or tears streaming down his cheeks. The downpour grows heavier, blurring everything into gray, while the earth shakes harder beneath him. More tornados spin into existence. Strangely, it feels like a weight is being lifted from his shoulders, as if this storm—no, this disaster—is somehow soothing.
Or after season 2, with the heightened/extreme stress and the pores from the tunnels. Mike awakens his powers, being the first mutant on Earth in X–Men terminology. This can be a fix–it or some kind for the next season maybe…

Will takes a shallow breath, tries to swallow his nerves. He speaks flatly. “And?”
Henry blinks, seemingly surprised by Will’s coldness. “I chose you that day, you know.”
And Will sees himself, small and alone, riding his bike through the darkness. He sees the silhouette of something tall and not-human. He sees himself crashing his bike. Running home. But the creature unlocks the door. It follows him into the shed. It gets him.
“It was you,” Will whispers, a hand coming up to the back of his neck. The monster that took him. The possession. The visions. “It’s always been you.”

This fic started as a project to help me work through my trauma, but after I got a little tipsy and decided to post it on TikTok a lot of people wanted to read this fic. I hope this finds someone who will enjoy reading as much as I will enjoy writing, but due to how close to home the abuse aspect is, it might be a while between chapters. But I promise I won't abandon it, and will still post as regularly as I can. This fic is too important for me to just abandon 🤗 Y'all just might have to bear with me.

He was in his room, sitting in his bed with a comic in hand. He hadn’t been reading it though, he had been on the same page for 30 minutes just staring. Nancy had broken him out of his thoughts, making him look to the doorway of his room. He didn’t even want to know how long the other had been standing there. “What?”
“Can you tell me what the hell you are doing?” Nancy answered quickly.
Mike pulled a face, scrunched up and confused. “Reading a comic before bed? Is that a crime?”
“I don’t care about your nightly routines Mike. That’s not what I’m talking about.” She walked into the room, closing the door. Nancy… Coming into his room and closing the door? That had never happened before. “I’m talking about Will.”

But it’s not so bad (He’s lying, it fucking sucks) at least he has the boy in the bed next to his, and relatively regular mealtimes and- Yeah, he's having trouble coming up with anything positive.

Will the Wise appears before everyone, confused on why his friends are wearing such strange garbs and what dungeon he has stumbled into. Meanwhile, Will finds himself surrounded by fantastical versions of his friends clad in armor and robes somewhere far, far from Hawkins. The party now has a new mission to figure out how to get their Wills switched back around, and Mike needs to figure out what this feeling in his chest is all about.

In the end, it doesn’t matter. None of it fucking matters. Because what’s really in control is the tension. This elusive string tied between their chests that’s always changing length. Right now it’s so short and taught and strong that Will can’t imagine resisting it. So really, it was never a matter of if he would. Just when. When will he fold? When will he let go and let himself follow Mike into the water?
He dares to glance down at his knees, where he can see Mike’s fingers peeking out from behind his calves (as if he needed that visual reminder that they’re touching), and then back up to meet Mike’s expectant gaze.
