Luna raises his eyebrows. “You know him?”
Oh yeah. Alex knows him all right.
He shakes his head in disbelief and crushes the empty Skittles packet in his hand, wondering just what he did in a previous incarnation to have ended up in this sixth ring of hell.

“You’re giving me nothing?”
“I don’t want to be accused of fraternizing with the enemy.”
“Whatever,” Liam scoffed. “Hey, have you seen North’s new hotshot coach yet?” Alex shook his head. “Legs for days. Apparently he made the Olympic team for Great Britain back in 2020, but then couldn’t do it when COVID made it get rescheduled to 2021 due to some injury. Didn’t even try this past year.”
Alex hummed. “How do you know all this stuff about him? You got the hots for him or something?” he teased.
“Haven’t had a chance to talk to him yet, “ Liam replids. “But I can tell you that he looks like a Disney Prince come to life, so that makes it a distinct possibility.”
Or
Alex, Liam, and Henry are all cross country coaches for rival schools. Mild skullduggery ensues.

When he reaches Alex, he crouches down to his knees, and he focuses on the way the blades just barely cut into the skin on the back of his thighs through his pants rather than the shaking of his hands at his sides.
“Alex?” Henry says, leaning his head down so he can maybe get in eye level with Alex, but Alex keeps his eyes firmly shut and angled down towards the ground, his curls plastered across his sweaty forehead, and it takes everything in Henry not to gently move the hair from his face.
“Alex, hey it’s – it’s Henry. Henry Fox?” Henry tries, this time a little louder, and he cringes at the awkwardness of it all. He thinks Alex must hear him though if the slight wince that rolls through Alex’s body is to go off anything.
Or: Hockey player Alex who gets injured and is back on the ice for the first time since said injury and isn't dealing with it well mentally, and figure skater Henry who comes into the rink one morning and finds Alex keeled over on the ice having a panic attack

“I love you,” he said again, with the ruthlessness of someone driving the blade deeper a second time, ensuring the wound wouldn’t close. “I know it’s madness, and I know it’s absurd. But I can’t do it anymore. Pretend. Not feel.”
I took a step forward, a minimal movement, weighed down by the infuriating caution of someone trapped between two equally wrong choices.
I wanted him to take it back, to say it was a provocation, a bad joke, or even a slip. Anything but… the truth.
Part of me already knew the undeniable weight of his confession.
Part of me knew exactly what to do with it, if I were someone else.
“You can’t do this to me,” I blurted out instead. “How am I supposed to walk down that aisle now? To go through with this wedding, knowing that…”
Knowing that I could have it all?
But what do you do when ‘everything’ is the cruelest uncertainty in the world, while ‘not everything’ remains so familiar, so steady?
The discomfort of stability was, at least, predictable.

Fresh off a brutal breakup, Alex is back for the sequel and back to dealing with Henry—the asshole Hollywood nepo baby who has failed to conceal his disdain for Alex ever since their first chemistry read. In the script the shippers will finally be getting what they’ve always wanted, but, as some of Henry’s ice begins to thaw, what Alex wants has become decidedly more confusing.
