“I thought I was fine. And then I was just…uncomfortable.” His eyes are back on Armand, and he cannot miss the heat simmering behind them. “And then I couldn’t think straight, then I sent the staff home ‘cause I didn’t know what I’d do, but the being alone in the house made it worse and then-” Louis knees finally buckle under him, Armand surging forward to catch him up against his chest. Louis is a feverish weight in his arms. Heat seeping through thin layers of clothes —his sweat soaked hair coiling tighter at the edges— although he’s shivering like he'd been out in the cold.
Armand lowers them both to sit on the bed, “I don't know what’s happening, I hoped it would go away-” Louis breaks off with a pathetic noise, inhaling deeply where he’s nuzzling into Armand's chest.

“Always the water with you, isn’t it?” says Louis, but he’s smiling in that easy way he did in Paris, as if the world was lying in wait for him to step on to it, to strip each part and decide what is worth taking– and the world would then thank him for his gaze.
“Yes,” Armand says, smiles. “Shall I tell you about it?”
Louis turns to him now. In this light his eyes are the same as the swish of green in the painting. “Yes,” he says. “I was hoping you would.”

They’d gone dry with embarrassment, with the way it felt like he wanted to collapse into himself under the weight of Lestat’s confident gaze. “The video of you–” Armand took a deep breath again. He’d been raised on filth, but truly, he did not like to be crass. “Fucking me.” He said finally, some sort of silly shyness in it that made the shame burn even hotter.
“Oh. That.” Lestat shrugged. “You looked good.”
