Summary
Benji Dunn works as a physical therapist for all kinds of government agents. CIA, FBI, Secret Service— when anyone needs assistance getting their body back in order, they come to him. Periodically, though, a mysterious block appears on his schedule. No name, no medical history, nothing but the characters BE11.
The year is 1996, and Benji meets Ethan Hunt under very different circumstances. And the ripples pull wider and wider as time moves on, until the familiar image becomes something new.
A quick lesson on broken bones: If they heal wrong, you're going to have to break them again.

Summary
Technically, Ethan has the easy job. He won’t have to sneak past guards or hack into triple-encrypted servers or find hidden documents in less than five minutes without being discovered. Although he might have preferred that.
As much as he is good at playing honeypot, he hasn’t done it in a while. As soon as things got serious with Julia, he’d stopped taking that role on missions before switching to training entirely. Hell, he hasn’t had sex since they parted. Arguably, it’s mostly due to lack of opportunity—going from Russian prison to disavowed to extended hospital stay to missions gives little time to meet people. But he hasn’t wanted to, really. The only person he’s longed for has been the one person he can’t and won’t have. And that’s alright, most of the time.

Summary
Ethan has a good post-mission routine. He takes himself somewhere safe, somewhere he can be alone. Then, he crashes until the pain fades and he has enough energy to move again. It's always worked out pretty well for him. And it's not as if he has any other options.
Julia's starting to think that there might be far more to her slightly strange new boyfriend than she expected, but upon finding out Ethan's plan to deal with his apparent quad-biking injuries, she has absolutely no intention of letting him get through this by himself.

Summary
Her soft eyes are shining and it makes him want to reach out and brush his thumb over her cheekbones, wiping away the drops of water that glisten there. But to do that he would have to be able to move, and right now all of his limbs feel strangely heavy, like the water they're both soaked in has glued him to the ground. All he can do is to stare into those wide eyes and let her stare back at him.
(After drowning, Ethan wakes up and remembers.)

Oh. Maybe it really is a mission. He’s oddly… disappointed. For a moment, he had thought maybe someone really would send something to him, that someone really did care about him enough to wrap a gift so securely that even a SWAT team couldn’t get it open.
The IMF logo flashes on the screen, before being replaced by—
Ethan grins. He knew there was another layer to this.
Luther waves at the camera, before he pans around to the outside of Ethan’s hotel. Luther’s here. Ethan’s not alone. It’s more of a relief than he thought it would be. “Is to join me outside for some Christmas fun, because god knows you need it.” A pause, as if Luther’s trying to decide what he’ll say next. “At least, I think you do. And I happened to be in town.” A flash of his smile, and Ethan melts. He hadn’t realized just how much he’d missed— this. Him.
“Meet me outside when you’re ready. Merry Christmas, Ethan.”

Benji’s already complimented him twice, and Ethan might need to start blaming the flush on his cheeks to the liquor even though he only had one drink. The other man bumps against him a little, playful, and smiles. “No, really. You’ve got a sort of charm t’you. Like a lost dog.”
He laughs at that, a little incredulously. “A lost dog, huh?” Benji beams, ruddy from the beers, gently lit from the streetlamps, a blur of gold. “It’s the eyes. Can’t say no to them.”
Ethan chuckles again. Everything seems funnier now. And besides— it’s a little hard to believe. “You’re accusing the top IMF agent of pretty privilege?”
“Well, I wouldn’t call it accusing if it’s true.” Benji seems to not realize what effect his words have on him, or maybe this is all some elaborate ploy to get Ethan blushing like a schoolgirl, in which case it’s working spectacularly.

"Here, some fresh clothes." Offered Benji.Ethan's hand lingered on Benji's as he took the clothes, giving him his trademark stare.
Benji pulled away and headed to the kitchen to check the cupboards. Ethan seemed to take the hint and Benji heard the soft click of the bathroom door closing and the lock engaging.
Benji reached out his hands and steadied himself against the kitchen counter. An almost unstoppable rush of tears built up in his eyes and they spilled out in spite of his desperate attempt to blink them away. His hands rushed up to his face from the counter and he pressed his palms against his eyes harshly to try and halt the tears.
