There are five men skating in the practice rink, four days before the official opening of the games, but Napoleon’s gaze follows only one of them as he glides effortlessly across the ice. Perfectly controlled, not a step out of place, even in practice. Perhaps Napoleon’s recent fascination—no, merely a casual interest, thank you—can be attributed to his search for a break in the skater’s icy exterior. Some sign that the man is human, that he has hopes and dreams and feelings like the rest of them. Not that it really matters, they’re not in direct competition, but it bothers him nonetheless.

Stede finds the house. When he comes back to their room at the inn, he won’t rest—won’t let Ed rest—until Ed’s seen it. His eyes are bright in that way that makes Ed’s guts feel scooped out with a spoon. So Ed hurries into his boots and goes with him.
The once-white paint is stripped by weather and wear, a portion of the roof is caved in, and the spokes of the wraparound porch are all gnawed through by animals.
Ed gazes up at the broken windows and the birds that have built nests there. At his side, Stede is waiting, rocking back and forth on his heels.
"It’s perfect," says Ed.

The altar and the ribbon, the offerings and the enchantment – it’s a marriage spell. It keeps people bound. Faithful. Until,” Geralt says, and then he stops and a faint dusting of pink appears on his cheeks.
“I think,” Jaskier says with great dignity, “I am going to faint.”
Or: Geralt and Jaskier get accidentally married by magic and find themselves unable to physically separate until they actually consummate the marriage. Awkward shenanigans abound.

Things couldn’t be going better for Napoleon: his immensely popular recipe and style column has been nationally syndicated, and he’s on the cusp of securing a new book deal that promises to finally let him move out of his minuscule Greenwich Village studio. And if the rest of the world, and his new publisher, believes that the column is written by Mrs. Josephine Solo—a sophisticated housewife who lives in a quaint Long Island village with her husband—well, what’s wrong with a little bit of storytelling if it’s not hurting anyone?
The lie he’s crafted becomes a problem, though, when his prospective publisher gets it in his head to invite a war hero, recently returned from Vietnam, to spend Christmas with Mrs. Solo and her family. Now Napoleon has to scramble to make the fiction a reality, including strong-arming his best friend Gaby, a die-hard women’s lib and anti-war advocate, into playing the part of the perfect housewife. Even so, everything is going according to plan; that is, until said war hero shows up and the sparks that fly seriously complicate matters.
