He looked at the charcoal smudge again. It was so distinctly Will. It was like finding a fingerprint at a crime scene, only the crime was Mike’s rapidly disintegrating sanity.

In which, Mike Wheeler thinks he knows everything about his roommate and childhood best friend, Will. There’s a loud clatter as Mike Wheeler springs back from the phial of Amorentia after smelling it like it’s about to bite him, his hip slamming into the edge of a nearby desk. The impact sends it wobbling, and a potion book skids off the surface, hitting the floor with an unceremonious thud.
Mike glares at the book as if it personally offended him, making no move to pick it up.
Then he looks up—and catches Will’s eyes.
His face collapses instantly, twisting into something between horror and grief, and he drags his hands over his face like that might undo whatever just happened.
“Oh my god,” he says, muffled. “I’m so screwed.”
“What the actual fuck, Mike?” Max says flatly.

“rest of the space is yours, picasso.” he gestured to the bed. his music was still blaring from the speaker and now there was the horrifying scrape of boxes across linoleum to accompany it, “what’s your medium? charcoal, paints…?” he drifted off, clearly unable to name another medium of art, “...crayon?”
will shoved his bedsheets into each corner of his mattress, barely looking up, “silence. try it out sometime."
