“Was there ever really a right time?” Napoleon Solo is sitting with her back to the boulder, screwing a silencer onto the barrel of her gun, dressed in dark, unmarked clothes the same as Illya’s that somehow manage to look flattering on her. The overhang offers adequate shelter, but the water in the air has teased her black hair into a multitude of small curls.
“I do not like this. Have no idea of what is inside.”
Illya squints through his binoculars at the warehouse, the earth damp and tacky under his knees. His coat is buttoned up to his throat, and yet he’s still shivering. The winter is cold this time of year, deep in the Tuscan forests, the perfect place for T.H.R.U.S.H. to hide. No hikers until spring at the earliest.
Solo tucks the gun into the holster at her hip, before rolling onto her knees by Illya’s side. He can smell her, a faint hint of lilac and bergamot. Feel the warmth of her next to him.
Illya shakes it off and shelves it. Not now. Not here.

Snape didn’t answer, but the girl plowed doggedly on.
“Well, th-there was an a-accident at the end of the summer, sir. S-some of my potions ingredients spilled in my trunk, and I didn’t know w-what to do... M-my relatives thought I might get help at school?”
She swallowed hard, then reached into her bag and pulled out a horror of a textbook. The entire mold-stained cover slid off as she moved to set it on his desk, and a handful of ragged pages scattered as the book block landed on his desk with a damp thud.
