After the fall of the Emperor, the Senorian Council was established to govern over the allied territories of the continent of Alayan to guarantee that the kingdoms would never again succumb to the violence witnessed under the Empire.
Rey is the Ward of Queen Leia of Aldera, one of the last free Kingdoms under rule by the Senorian Council. One by one, the kingdoms have fallen to the Order of Sithis, a religious order led by the evil Snoke, who styles himself Pope. His worship of the God of Death and desire for an Empire of his own threatens all free realms of Alayan. Led by the feared Master of the Knights of Ren, the Papal army is now at Aldera's doorstep.
