Summary
Peter has grown used to the days as a HYDRA prisoner. It involves mostly staring at the other side of the cell, being tortured or experimented on, and meeting the other prisoners that pass through, most of whom only last a few days. This all changes when Tony Stark becomes his new cell mate and Tony does his best to break down Peter's walls. Both start on a journey of escape and recovery, but they can't always take this journey together.

Peter snuck abord the Quinjet on a dangerous mission. In retrospect, Tony probably should have anticipated that. Then again, he'd never been very good at anticipating things when it came to Peter Parker. Like how much he actually cared about the damn kid. Or how this mission would go so wrong.
...Or that he'd ever be so thankful for Steve Rogers.

“Tony fucking Stark,” Clint says, and he points at the black smoke. “Did you blow up that base, you piece of shit?”
“Absolutely not. I almost got blown up with it.”
Clint is not alone. A few yards behind him, a scrawny figure halts and squints at Tony from underneath a frayed baseball cap. Sunken eyes. Dressed in a black undershirt and cargo pants.
Can’t be older than eighteen.
“What are you doing here?”
Clint jerks his head at the boy behind him. “SHIELD mission. Extracting a hostage.”
Tony glances back at the teenager, whose face has now morphed into something entirely impassive. “He seems thrilled about his rescue.”

“I had scoliosis,” Peter whispered, not looking away from where they’d heard the metal snap. He had gone pale. Bucky was sure he was a few shades lighter, himself. “That’s… that’s what I was gonna say before."
“Yeah?” Bucky asked. He loosened his grip on Peter’s shoulder, but didn’t take his hand away.
“My back still hurts sometimes,” Peter explained quietly. “But that might be because of the swinging. Hard to find a strong enough chiropractor to crack it, you know? Maybe… maybe two thousand tons of concrete would do it, though.” Bucky leveled his gaze at the kid. Peter looked back at him, swallowing hard.
“Let’s call that Plan B, okay?” Bucky suggested.
“Yeah, okay,” Peter mumbled.

Or, Peter gets caught in the collapse of a parking garage with a (mildly) concussed Bucky Barnes, and has a nice get-to-know-you sesh with our favorite super soldier while waiting for Tony to find a safe way get them out. Super chill, right? Everything's fine. Oh- and he's been impaled by two rods of rebar and can't move without risking bleeding out. That... complicates things.

Summary
AU. Nineteen year old Peter Parker has worked for SHIELD ever since he had a run-in with Nick Fury over alien technology a couple of years ago.
When Tony Stark and Happy Hogan are injured in an attack that uses unfamiliar alien tech, Peter is assigned by Fury as their bodyguard and informant. He has one rule he tells himself on missions. Or, well, one rule with three sub-sections: get in and out, stay alert, and do not get attached. (That last sub-section holds more weight than the others — by about forty percent, give or take.)
Morgan Stark — and, apparently, the rest of the Avengers, along with people he's tried to leave behind — are making the last part of that rule very difficult for him. Oh, and it turns out that Tony Stark isn't as big of an asshole as everyone makes him out to be. Who knew?
