Obi-Wan starts to hide his braid in the tenth month since the birth of the Empire. He pins it behind the ear every morning, because he can't stand the pitiful looks the newcomers throw his way.
It's understandable.
They think his Master is dead. They think he mourns, clings to a promise that would never be fulfilled. They think he is just one of the many padawans, orphaned in this devastating massacre.
He sometimes wishes it was the truth.His Master, however, is not dead. His Master is alive and he is the Sith that started it all.
But Obi-Wan can't bring himself to denounce him even after holding the cold corpses of his younger brothers and sisters.

Ch1 - Fortune Teller Obi-Wan and a sceptic with a touch of magic Anakin.
Ch2 - Obi-Wan returns from a mission and Anakin is completely entranced.
Ch3 - Anakin is much more vulnerable to his praise kink than to Palpatine's grooming, and Obi-Wan has to deal with the horrific aftermath.
Ch4 - The Resistance kidnapped Obi-Wan after he choose to stay with Vader and help him.
Ch5 - Anakin shouts at Obi-Wan (because of insecurities).
Ch6 - Kylo Ren finally gets an answer, but it is not who he expected or wanted. But maybe someone he needed instead.
Ch7 - Obi-Wan remembers.
Ch8 - Vader finally snaps and takes from Kenobi what they've both craved for so long. -
