    “We should make it a road trip, Eddie! We never hang out anymore, Eddie! It’ll be so fun, Eddie!” Eddie mimics, his voice trailing as he disappears into the tiny bathroom connected to their Budget Queen motel room.

    “We’re not stranded,” Buck scoffs. “And you weren’t saying that when you were stuffing your face with the tamales that I found, or the cherry pie that I read about.”

     

    Or, there was only one bed. And a lot of bickering.

    “Can I-and I apologize if this is overstepping, in any way,” Alex continues, her voice mercifully dissolving the mental image Eddie had cursed himself with. 

    “But, since we’re here, I just wanted to offer."

    She digs around in her purse for a moment, and Eddie looks at Buck. He raises his eyebrows in a question, and Buck shrugs. 

    Sure. Now he knows what Eddie is thinking.

    Alex discards her purse and looks up at Buck and Eddie. 

    “Well, I can’t find my cards, but I’d be happy to give you guys my information.” 

    Eddie narrows his eyes in genuine uncertainty. 

    Buck leans forward, elbows on his knees, and asks the question they’re both thinking. 

    “Information for what, exactly?” 

    “Right, sorry, I wasn’t super clear,” Alex says with a shake of her head. She smiles brightly. “I do couples counseling, too. First session is on me, if you guys are interested. I have plenty of experience with long-term partners. LGBT included, so you’d feel right at home!” 

    Eddie leans forward now, mouth open in shock. 

    “How–” 

    Eddie doesn’t finish the thought, because Buck is choking. Of course.

    The green blooded alien was something Leonard didn’t understand. Plain and simple. And yet, the doctor couldn’t stop himself from wanting to understand Spock. Wanting to bicker and argue just to hear the monotone speech he wasn’t used to. Wanting to see the Vulcan raise a brow and show off his stupid pointed ears. And McCoy didn’t understand why he wanted that either.

    Until he did.

    Otherwise known as the fic where Leonard slowly figures out he’s falling in love with Spock while oblivious to the Vulcan’s feelings the entire time.
