YEAR OF THE REALM 860
The Night of the Flames
Archduke Elwin Rosfield, Joshua Rosfield, and Rodney Murdoch escaped from the destruction wrought upon Phoenix Gate by a mysterious second Eikon of Fire. Though his body was not recovered from the rubble, it is believed that Clive Rosfield, First Shield of Rosaria, perished in the fortress that night while defending his family from their would-be assassins.
When Murdoch orders the remaining forces to rally at the rear gate, the men instead search the fortress for Clive. As a result of this, many things change and one thing does not.
15 is not a chapter, it is an update about the future of this work.

“I forgot about sunburn. But loving the sun means being changed by it, I guess.” She kneels on the sand and touches her fingers to the ever shifting grains as the low tide ebbs and flows before her. The pink on her nose almost matches her ribbon. The top of her head is so close to the tips of his fingers that all he needs to do is move his hand just a little to touch her.
He crosses his arms and stares up at the village. “Why should loving the sun give you sunburn?” he asks, suddenly frustrated.
“I didn’t say it should give you sunburn. I said love should change you.”
