It’s a question he’s been asked a lot lately, and he thinks that’s the point — she’s got a bit of an ironic smile on her face, like she knows he’s at eyeroll point with the question — but then, she’s the first person asking who wants a genuine answer, rather than to hear ‘great, fantastic, couldn’t be better’.
“Great, fantastic, couldn’t be better,” Joey says anyway, because it has been all of those things, and lying to your therapist is a dumb thing to do. How can they therapize if you aren’t upfront with them? They can’t.
