Kirk sat up. “Let’s go.” He got to his knees and started to stand, but suddenly he froze; his shirt was drenched with blood in the abdomen.
McCoy, catching it at the same time, barked, “Jim, don’t move!” Kirk was too stunned to reply, but he kept still as the doctor sat him back down. “Where were you hurt?”
“I didn’t think I was,” Jim admitted. “I don’t feel anything.”
