“I am,” Shane said immediately, almost offended.
“I know,” Ilya said. “But I need you to listen.”
Shane nodded. “I am listening.”
“I do not want to play hockey much longer,” Ilya said quietly. “Maybe couple more seasons. And then I am done.”
Shane stared at him. “Done?”
“Yes.”
“With hockey. You’re serious?”
“Very,” Ilya said.

The first WIP I've followed since I was a teenager. Absolutely amazing plot and execution. Ilya working through his depression, the coup lead by Scott and Yuna to overthrow the commissioner, the introduction of Mason and his journey to being a full fledged member of Ilya and Shane's family, culminating in Ilya's retirement and the birth of their daughter.... mwah 💋. Just wonderful. Definitely cried throughout. Author knows how to evoke emotion that's for sure!

“He’s not sleeping.” Shane flares his nostrils—another gesture Yuna hasn’t seen in so many years. “He’s waiting for me to call a third time. Mom. Please. He’s—he’ll be so worried.”
Yuna shifts her thumb and lets it drop. Is Yuna a bad mother if she hopes "Lily" doesn’t pick up?
