Summary
Something was off with Hinata.
It didn’t come across in his play though, nor was there any apparent shift in his usual sunshine demeanor. In fact, Atsumu almost began to wonder if he was imagining tension where there was none to begin with. That being said, something in his gut screamed otherwise. Somewhere behind those gleaming amber eyes that sparkled at his teammates' jokes and laughs, Atsumu couldn’t help but feel that something was wrong. Hinata was not ok.
Atsumu senses a part of Hinata is hurting. He extends an arm in support and the two develop something special as they learn to laugh and love together.

It’s simple; Osamu doesn’t actually have to say it out loud. Friends don’t kiss, because kissing makes things weird. Suna said something before, the second time it happened. Be careful, he’d murmured. Don’t wanna accidentally cross the line, right.
Friends don't kiss. Friends don't sleep over at each other's houses and touch each other and sleep together, and they certainly don't keep doing that, over and over. Osamu knows this. Suna knows this.

Until one day, when a teenage girl arrives at his office begging him to get her brother off the hook for a murder charge, and Kageyama finds himself defending Hinata Shouyou: a poker player with a reputation for being undefeated.
It should be just another case. But Kageyama, realising that his life in law is perhaps too lonely, too stale, keeps this one client in his life. Because something about Hinata is addicting, and maybe this is just the gamble that he needs to take.

Summary
So maybe Atsumu swore, in front of the gods and Osamu and Sakusa and one-quarter of EJP Raijin, that he could make it a year without hooking up. Lesser men have done more. Atsumu has never stuck to a New Year's resolution in his life that wasn't related to volleyball, but he's a big boy now with grown-up convictions.
If only Sakusa wasn't making it so fucking hard to stay strong.

The shape of his hands when he slices the fruits: the peaches falling into thin, soft crescent moons, the pear skins a long ribbon between his fingers. The strawberries lose their shapes in the pot, sugar melting, sweetness rising in the air. The tea leaves unfurl in the glass pot, hot water dyed into the color of the sun.
Atsumu hums a soft little tune when he does the dishes. He thinks the sound of the running water buries his voice. It doesn’t. Shouyou doesn’t tell him.
