Summary
A few years after Loki's attack, The Avengers are in New York when they get a call about an attack nearby. They rush to the site of the attack but see nobody there. Blasts fly around them as they try to figure out who is attacking. Thor discovers Loki nearby, wondering how he made it out of his cell on Asgard. Loki slips away and runs in to the center of the battle field, and reveals a masked assailant and a hostage. The attacker slips away while detonating a device that sends the Avengers to a vast wasteland.
Who is attacking New York? How is Loki free? How will the avengers make it back home?

When Thor threw Loki headfirst into that cliff, he had no idea he would break the mind control of the sceptre and Thanos' minions.
This changes everything.
With Loki not wanting the invasion, they can find the Tesseract and stop the portal quicker than in the film. How will this change things in the immediate future?
And with the information Loki can provide, there is no one to tell Tony he is paranoid when the possibility of a second invasion comes up.
