    Would you do anything to save the girl you had fallen for from certain death?

    Jinshi need not even consider the question before he promised the heavens to end his eunuch charade if they save the apothecary who's pulse and breath grew weaker with every moment. Perhaps he should have considered such a question, because he unwittingly sealed a pact with the divine ancestor of the Ka clan to return to the station of the prince he was born, in the process making Maomao the Honored First Princess Consort, better known as the Cursed Consort. The first consort of a prince, who almost always dies young.

    Still so long as she was alive, and so long as she was his, how could he not claim her? He had every right, he owned the right to her body after purchasing her contract from the Verdigris, being a prince alone was enough, the Emperor had demanded she become his first consort too, and now so too had the heavens deemed her his. He couldn't resist her any longer, not with the mess of tentacles encouraging him, not with the pretty noises she made when he touched her.

    He needed her. She would have died without him, and he feared without her he too would perish.
